A lot of people are questioning why Theresa May refused to meet residents after the Grenfell Tower fire.
Earlier today, the prime minister attended the scene of the west London fire that has claimed at least 17 lives. May met with emergency services, but her visit was ‘private’ so she did not speak with residents or answer questions from journalists.
Given the scale of the devastation, and predictions from London Fire Brigade that the death toll is set to increase significantly, a lot of people are asking why Theresa May couldn’t spare the time to console residents who’ve lost their home or people who have lost loved ones in the Grenfell Tower tragedy.
One distraught woman apparently said ‘Theresa May was here but she didn’t speak to any of us. She was sh*t’, according to a Mirror reporter.
Meanwhile Labour Jeremy Corbyn visited St Clements Church, where volunteers have set up a refuge centre after the tragedy. He was seen chatting with and reassuring the community following the Grenfell Tower fire.
